Restricted PDFs generally use “Permissions” (or Owner) passwords to block editing, copying, or printing while still allowing you to view the file. If you own the document but forgot the password, or have legal access to the content, you can easily bypass these specific restrictions using built-in browser features, cloud services, or dedicated software. This is the fastest, completely free workaround that strips away formatting permissions using your web browser’s print engine.
Open the PDF: Right-click your restricted PDF file, select Open with, and choose Google Chrome or Microsoft Edge.
Open Print Menu: Press Ctrl + P on Windows or Cmd + P on a Mac.
Change Destination: In the print settings side-panel, click the “Destination” dropdown menu.
Save New Copy: Change the selection to Save as PDF (or Microsoft Print to PDF) and click Save.
